setup a new surround system

    hi, i currenty live in Malaysia and i would to receive some advice for helping my father to setup a new surround system.
    i dont have any speaker or receiver yet, any recommandation for that too?
    here is some information

    dvd player: Philips DVP532K/69

    television set: Toshiba 29A3ES

    a few days ago, i found that my dvd player does not support DTS. why??? almost all dvd player in my country ca support. i was so unlucky

    John,

    Here's a good tutorial that should help with making the proper connections.

    I wouldn't be too hung up about not having dts. I assume your DVD player at least has Dolby Digital (and by "at least", I don't mean to imply that Dolby Digital is somehow inferior).

    Welcome to the Forum!

    I noticed that you didn’t mention a receiver or speaker system. You won’t be able to get any surround sound for your father without them.
