I will be accompanying a friend who lost her husband at the WTC to his office tomorrow to begin the processing of paperwork, benefits, etc.
He was an EMT for a hospital(not a city worker) and was in the building at the time of collapse. He had been dispatched there.
Does anyone out there know specifically what type of benefits might be available to the widow? They also have a 2 year old daughter.
I'm NOT looking for lawsuit type information; but I do wonder about WORKER'S COMP, SOCIAL SECURITY SURVIVOR BENEFITS, COLLEGE AID FOR HIS DAUGHTER, ETC.
Any info appreciated. Thank you.

The City Bar Association has established a number for precisely this purpose:
To receive free legal advice or to obtain a legal referral about issues pertaining to insurance benefits, wills and estate planning, and other legal issues, residents should call: (212)-626-7373.
