Yep the Gas prices are doing it to me as well. I hater to give Universal my Money but it might just be the Hammer set and the Lugosi set for me this week.
With the HTF reports on the Bela Lugosi set and the New York Times reporting much of the same i.e. that the Bela Lugosi set was a set on a single disc affecting image quality. - it seems odd that people are thinking about adding this title.
But then again, I just learned about these problems this week.
Actually, my purchases would be the reverse because of the gas prices since my new job is actually closer to my house than my old job was (2 miles versus 8.5 miles one way) and I can now bike to work or park for free downtown. Of course, I don't blame the rest of you for cutting back. This gas thing is only going to get worse. Even DDD and others will have to pass on the rising costs to us at some point (esp. when the PO raises their rates).
Well the rising gas prices are causing me to drive less (my wife even cancelled her trip to Houston to see her parents this weekend - though that doesn't save me any money since we're donating it for Katrina), but I'm not going to let it cut into my dvd purchases.
My September will definitely be expensive but my planned October purchases are at least double what I have planned for September. Luckily I have a birthday in October so I might not have to "buy" all of them.
I'm sure glad I'm the kinda guy that really only cares about the movie and that it is anamorphic, (if it was an original widescreen presentation). Makes it real easy to skip double-dipping for things like Blue Brothers and Wizard of Oz.
Course I will be getting this new Titanic, but I never bought the non-anamorphic release.
I just watched it again a couple weeks ago, and the quality looks really good. I have the Warner single-disc version in the snapper. I don't know how that ones quality compares withany others that have already been released, but as I said, it seems good to me.
