Does anyone know who makes a DTS decoder I can purchase that will plug into my Denon 2700.I bought this 3 years ago and it didn't have DTS.I like the receiver and don't think upgrading to the new 2802 is worth the money. Thanks for any help.

    Regards,Wayne

I answered this on Audio Asylum today as well.
Goto http://www.5point1.com and order their Millenium DTS decoder in silver for US$200.

    Wayne,

I do not know if you are in the market for another DVD player or not but an option you could consider would be to get a DVD player with a built in DTS decoder! By the way, I have always heard good things about the Millenium DTS decoder.

    Regards,

You'll need a DVD player that can decode DTS discs as well. The Millenium 2.4.6 can be found sometimes on Ebay for

The only potential problem with the Millenium 2.4.6 is that it has no bass management at all. The full range signals for the front, center, and rear speakers can not have bass sent to your sub without buying a $250 Outlaw ICBM as well. If you have large mains this is a very minor problem that I would not worry about. If however your mains are small you may want to look into a DVD player with a built in DTS decoder which incorporated bass management.

I have a Millenium 2.4.6 in my system and I've been nothing but happy with it. Top notch build quality perfect pass-through functionality, great sound (Burr-brown 20 bit DACs), nice piece. I can't recommend it highly enough.

You might try seaching for a Technics SH500D processor, which is a DD 5.1 and DTS unit with bass mgt.

I have seem them used for $150 on the web all the time.

    Question:

I have a DD 5.1 rec. but it is not DTS capable. I have two DTS decoder equipped DVD players. If I hook up the DVD player through the optical input, will my receiver output DTS?

I have always thought the receiver had to be DTS capable.

Help me out here, I would like to experiment.

    Thanks

Your reciever has to be DTS capable, or you must use an add on DTS Decoder.

This Mellenium 2.4.6 sounds good. I wonder if it's related in any way to the Millennium 2.4.6? [IMG]
