I am considering replacing my 5-ch separates (Myryad T-50/T-70) with a stereo integrated and a cheap HT receiver.
My 5-ch pre-amp does not have any sort of decoding and I am using the DVD player as a decoder as well.
I spend 80% listening to music and rest on Movies, so shouldn't this meet my needs better? Any disadvantages of going this route?
Also, I am thinking of replacing my DVD player with a progressive (although I will not be upgrading my current analog TV for a while). The other reasons for changing my DVD player are it seems to skip the beginning of each track on some CDs and the fact that the decoder's bass mgmt does not allow me to re-route LFE to the mains. Does this change make sense?
