Someone I know needs to sell his BMW and I have a vested interest in this. It's an 85 BMW (popular model) and it stopped running. He has not bothered to repair or look at it, but thinks it may be the timing belt.
How much and how would I sell this thing?
The extra parking spot would be nice. Thanks everyone.

Look up the normal value of the car in the Kelley Blue Book. Now since it doesn't run, cut that price in half. If you fix it, you could get blue book. Without fixing it, it's worth a whole lot less.

So, it looks like it might be about 350. Who is it that buys these things? If I can't sell it there is going to be a very large pile of leaves in that parking space.

which model is it and what happened?
if that's an interference engine you've got more problems than just the belt, if that's what snapped.
I also thought BMW had always used chains, but must be mistaken.

Try running an ad on www.craigslist.org someone will pick it up for 350 I'm sure.
