I was in my local Staples store today, and they had a display chock full of those Flexplay discs for $4.99 each. Mostly older titles, but I did see copies of Tropic Thunder, and it appeared to be the theatrical cut. All the titles I looked at were in anamorphic widescreen, and some even had DTS tracks listed, but apparently no extras.

I'm not a fan of the concept, but I'll admit I'm curious to see one of these discs actually "decompose" 49 hours after being opened. It would be really funny if some DVD players out there could still read the discs after that! ;)

The Flexplay folks had a large presence at this year's EMA in Las Vegas. They were handing out samples, and I picked up "Cloverfield" and "Semi-Pro". Both looked and sounded great, but I am still not sure if the concept makes enough sense to succeed. Their re-launch followed what was apparently a lot of work that went into making their product more recyclable to partly counter the environmental issues associated with a one time use disposable media format.
