When I got out my NIKKO Gama 1 receiver, I wanted to compare it to my new Yamaha RX-V2600. I was using a newly installed omni directional folded dipold antenna. Being in San Diego my goal was not only the local stations but the Los Angeles stations. My test is what I call the 400 KHz adjacent channel stations. 100.7 MHz, and 101.5 MHz both in San Diego and 101.1 MHz in LA.As we all know the folded dipold antenna in the shape of an X is still directional so I rotated it to peak the 101.1 LA station. When I had the Gama 1 in Wide IF mode, overload, but in the narrow position it was receiving the 101.1 station just OK. Then on went the Yamaha RX-V2600 and I said WOW!!! It is as good if not a bit better?? I know that Yamah advertises the 2600 with a high performance FM radio?? So I decided to look at the specification and it was showing the selectivity at an impressive 70 DB at 400KHz spacing. Not bad!!! The sensitivity was also very good. The Yamaha held its own against the Gama 1, a very good FM tuner. Naturally a Sansui TU-9900 with a 9 gang FM tuner and 100 DB of selectivity would be better, but at $600 to $800 on eBay, not for me just yet. I have ordered a FM antenna that I can ROTATE to better optimize the reception of FM plus HDTV and VHF television. Once again the Yamah RX-V2600 did not disappoint me for above average FM performance.[IMG] [IMG] :b
