    Do you seldom post?
Do you read posts every day but hardly respond?
Is your middle name "lurker," or "lurky," or "hides in the shadows?"
Do you look at a long thread, know the answer to a question, almost
post but then find someone has beaten you to posting the
    answer?
Do you have a posting average of less than 0.25 posts per day?
Well, my friends.... you are a member of the "SPL" - the
Seldom Posters League. Much like the more well known
Justice League, only rather than save the universe from
evil.... the SPL watches it happen, thinks about
    commenting,...then....just lets it be.
So if you consider yourself a "SPL" member I dedicate this
new "SPL Lounge" where members can hangout and ...well...
think of something witty to say - almost post it - then not.
    So welcome!!!
I wonder if I should really post this?
    Maybe I should reconsider?
    I think I won't post this... I'd rather lurk.
OPPS..... pinky finger accidently hit the "submit" button.

Hallo! My name is Emil Leopold I am Steve's 'seldom poster' alter ego, the last time I posted was during that freak heatwave we had over here in July, I forgot what it was I posted, I think it was a barfing smiley. Come to think of it the last time I posted before that was at Xmas, pretty sure I posted a barfing smiley then too.
    See you guys next year!![IMG]

    Hi.

Read everyday. Yes. Have something to say in many threads. Yes. Do I actually reply in the thread. Well no.

    Bye.

Don't want to become a often poster you know.

    Hello, my brothers and sisters.

I actually use the forum more for research than anything else.

When I read a post that stirs up an opinion, almost always someone else shares the same one, and beats me to the punch.

I could just post, "Yeah, what he/she said." To me there is no point, in not adding anything to the discussion.

    Regards,
    Rico

P.S. That seems to be what I just did. Oh, the irony.
    The lurking will continue immediately.

In what is likely to become a new After Hours sensation comparable to his legendary "Thread Killer" phenomenon, Dr. Joseph Howard (going strong at 317 posts in five years!) strikes again with a heartfelt appeal to his seldom-posting brethren. Look at this way, Dr. Howard: You post economically, as opposed to "seldom." As a result, each of your posts will command more $$ in the collectors' market than any of mine will. A Joseph Howard post has "collector's item" written all over it.

    I am a Seldom Poster.

If I want to say something, but someone has beaten me to it, I will not post. Sometimes, even if someone has not beaten me to it, I will not post.

On the rare occasions I actually do post, the prospective post must go through a rigorous revision process. Many potentials do not survive this process. Many changes are made to the post I had originally envisioned. I frequently preview the post and I always spell check. Even after I post, I might edit it.

Maybe I will post some more.
    Maybe not.

I post only when I can say something witty and/or profound. Therefore, I never post. [IMG]
Actually I post on occasion, but I'm definitely a member of the SPL. I read a lot of threads in which I believe I could add something interesting, but I often don't. I think I'm just lazy. I took part in that "Thread Killer" thread for about a week. It was too much effort to go beyond that.
I often think about how I should post more, but I never do. I'm sure that's a sign you're an SP. It's like drinking alone when you're an alcoholic.
Do we get something cool like a secret decoder ring for being in the SPL?

Don't let my high posts per day count fool you. I posted like a madman for about a year and now pretty much observe. I guess my fingers just started to get tired...

Not a lurker, but I did have an observation. There is a very high occurance between the confirmed members of the SPL and signature presence. Seems interesting that people who rarely post often have a sig while some of us posting maniacs do not.

At 0.11 posts per day, I guess I qualify [IMG]
As others have said, most of the time, someone else has already said what I want to, so I don't see the point in chiming in just to say "Yeah, me too"(although, I guess I just did that).
Of course, the few times I have had the chance to give an opinion that hadn't been offered yet, it was only because no one agreed with me, which can be problematic, depending on the topic. At times like that, I have a tendency to just not post, because I don't want to stir things up. There have been exceptions, like the thread about Ron's letter to the studios about abolishing pan and scan (I disagreed with his approach), but those exceptions are quite rare.
I keep telling myself I will post more, but I never seem to. I often think it would be fun to be one of those people that everyone on the board seems to know (like Mike Knapp, Jack Briggs, etc.), but I guess I'll just have to accept my place in obscurity [IMG]
