    Hi gang,

I want to replace my old 25" tv in the basement. With a
similar size HDTV. Is there one that size? Doing a basic search I can't find one. I see the Samsung 27". Is that any good? I don't want widescreen. I have that in my living room. This set is mainly for my Xbox and Gamecube.
Any suggestions? 720p would be a nice bonus but not
necessary. I would like to be inexpensive as possible.
    Under 1000?

    Thanks for any info,

    Aaron Armstrong

Have you considered the Sampo SME-27FDL5? It's a 27 inch set that can do 720p, as well as accept XGA from your computer. It looks like quite a set to me. It can be found for just under $1000 online. If not, the Samsung looks like a great deal, even if it can't do 720p. At $599, it'll save you some money too.

    Sampo huh?
Don't know much about that company, but that sounds nice.
Anyone have one of their sets?

I think Zenith makes a 27 inch set as well.

Boy the specs on the Sampo sound nice. But there are no
local retailers I can get it from. I'm not too keen
on ordering a TV to be delivered.

My friend got the sampo set shipped from China, worked out great. It even has both PAL and NTSC tuners so you don't have to worry about conversion artifacts,
