Looks like that this series is getting prepared to be released to DVD by christmas, if the rumors coming out are true. TV Shows on DVD are reporting this series as rumor-mill speculation but here's the link for the story:

    http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=3983

I'm hoping that Universal does NOT use double sided DVD's. If these reports are true lets start emailing Universal about our disappointment regarding this DVD-18 format for this series and hope they use broadcast episodes.

I just read about this also. Hope it’s true.

Not a big fan of flippers either, but quite frankly, I’ll just be happy to get this on DVD.

Yeah, I've been waiting for this one myself. Hopefully, Universal will do this set right with no DVD-18 format.

I care more about the show and that it makes it to DVD in this case than the complaints about DVD-18s. I don't like flipping them over and they make me nervous about scratching, but I have never had a problem with a single DVD-18 that I own.

Sadly we just received word from the studio that this title isn't coming in 2005.

Dan, please remove the article from your posting. We ask that people link, not copy and paste, the news we post to the site, since they can be updated (like this) and that information doesn't get updated elsewhere.

    The dolphin's name was "Darwin."

Gord, did Universal say if it was coming in 2006 then? I don't care if it's not coming in 2005 but did they give any indication if there was a release date on the foreseeable horizon?

The information we got came from a retailer, so I would assume the set is coming, it was just pushed back for some reason. They were going out and talking to people about the release, so I can't see them scrapping it, but you never know.

Unfortunately the email I got was very short, just letting me know it's not coming out in 2005.

This is good news none the less.

Hopefully, if it is 2006, it'll be January or February.

Absolutely awesome. I've been hoping that this series would get a fast release ever since Gord announced the pre-release information a few weeks ago. Hopefully they'll give us a behind the scenes look at the making of the series.[IMG]

Double Sided Discs = No Sale
Single Sided Discs = Definite Sale

It is up to Universal. I am not holding out much hope [IMG]

Gord, do you know if Universal is aware of how bad the double sided discs are? Do they know they are losing sales?

I really want this series on DVD. This will hurt if I can't buy it.

I'm really looking forward to this set. I never watched a full episode, but heard good things about it.

I keep forwarding emails I receive to them. They really need to get the replication facility involved since that's where the problem is occuring.

Gord, that may be that Universal has nothing to do with the creation of the disks but someone at Universal must decide on what type of disks to use.

The reason why is because this allows them to keep their costs on the DVD's down while keeping the retail prices up there. I just wish they would pay attention and tell their replicating facilities to stop using these disks. Every one of their disks that I have purchased have gotten damaged or scratched in some way or another.

If they continue to use these disks in an effort to cut some of their costs then why not pass those savings onto the customer by lowering those retail prices that they set?

It's about time this is coming out! I only plan to buy S1 because of the cast exodus. The box deisgn is very tasteful and hopefully this will have a nice low price point. [IMG]
