Well, this is a shock. Just learned that a sequel for Seven is coming out this year, but can't seem to find any information about the story. Good to see Morgan Freeman reprise his character - minus Brad Pitt and Kevin Spacey. Anyone have any details about this movie?

First i've heard of it, I highly doubt there would be a sequel and it isn't listed under Morgan Freeman's filmography on imdb.

That's interesting news. It would make sense that Spacey and Pitt wouldn't be returning for a continuing story, if in fact the story takes place after the events of the first one.

Wouldn't Det. Sommerset (Freemans character) have been retired for nearly a decade by now?

Starring Shaqullie O'Neal as the serial killer...hence the title: 7' 2"

    Actually he's 7' 1".

Anyway, where did you hear this news from? Sounds suspect to me.

How about some details regarding your source? In the meantime, I've added a question mark to the thread title.

This is bollocks. If a sequel to se7en were coming out (and this year), a LOT more people would know. No way this is true.

I think there were some rumors flying around, but no firm plans ever materialized for the sequel.

    Ahh...
Here is a Cinema Confidential story from April 2002:

I can't find any more recent information. My guess is that the project died in development.

Yeah, they changed it to August 2006 after I wrote them an e-mail asking for source of information to the release date. Guess they goofed.

But still, this movie is a reality or what?

I seriously doubt its reality. A projected release date more than two years in advance is pretty extreme if they really had a deal in place. Particularly for a film thats not likely to require extensive post-production time.

The rumours of another movie with Somerset have been around for a few years now, but I don't think Freeman ever confirmed anything.

At the end of Seven, Morgan Freeman is still an officer. They could make it were there is a copycat murderer, or that Kevin Spacey's character was being helped and is still after Brad Pitt.

Either way, they should probably not ruin the movie with a sequel, unless we are talking about making it into a Saturday Morning Cartoon. /end sarcasm.
