I noticed a new printing of the 1-disc version of David Fincher's "Se7en" at BB today. In addition to being a new printing of a version not seen for quite a while, this version was in a standard snap case, not in the old Warner/New Line keep case.

That's not all, the back of the new printing says the aspect ratio is 1.85:1, while the 2-disc Platinum Series edition is 2.40:1.

Can anyone verify whether this is a misprint or in fact there is a difference in aspect ratios here.

Perhaps the new printing is open-matte?

Can anyone comment on this? I need to replace mine, but only if it's OAR.

I saw the new single disc at Wal Mart. It comes in a keepcase and has the exact same cover art as the old barebones flipper DVD. This new DVD is also barebones except for the DTS track. The aspect ratio listed on the back is 2.40:1

Must have been a misprint on some cases, because I saw a 1.85:1 AR listed on the back as well

In your first post you said you saw the snap case version. You were seeing old barebones flipper disc.

The back cover of the new single-disc edition, as seen here on DVD Empire's site, does indeed claim a 1.85:1 aspect ratio.

I believe it's just a misprint, but I haven't seen the disc myself and can't say for certain. I can't imagine, though, that New Line would spring for another transfer in a different AR after all the work put in by Fincher on the Platinum Series transfer from the original negative.

Just a thought...this version has no commentaries. Does that make it a "Superbit" version of the title? [IMG]
