So I'm watching a DVD last night and the scene changes and the screen goes black. Black, black, black. Nothing comes back, though the DVD player continues and sound comes from the receiver. Check the other inputs---still black. Can't even get a menu up on the screen. Zippo, nada. It turns on, but the screen is blank.

The only authorized Toshiba repair place in town has a 2.5 week backlog, so someone else is going to get called in. Since this is a $3000 investment, though, I want someone who knows what they're doing. What questions to ask as I call around for someone to do the work and get this beast operating again?

Anyone know what the problem might be? Blown fuse somewhere?

Got a service guy in and the problem, though disabling, turned out to be minor. Some solder had come loose and a connection was no longer being made. A little bit of solder and we're back in business. [IMG] [IMG]
