Screen size and type (1 Viewer)

Help!!! Aside from the obvious, a screen too big for the room, what size and aspect 1.33, 1.77 is the best to get. I will be using it for DVDs and HDTV as well as standard TV.

I am looking for generalizations not specifics, Any help appreciated. Thanks Tom

First I would suggest you look through your dvd collection and take note of what aspect ratio each movie is in. A hdtv uses the 1:78:1 ratio. A lot of new movies are using a 2.35:1 aspect ratio. However, if you go with a screen using this aspect ratio, you'll have to mask it for movies that don't have that aspect ratio. Some people like going this way because it gives you more options.
