Chad,
I feel for you. Front projectors are hard to find. I don't think you'll find digital pictures a good way to compare projectors (they make grey look black). I was lucky to have some projectors at work and had seen the Sony 10 and Sharp 100 at a local store. I was bothered by the visible pixels on LCD projectors with the exception of the Sony. The Black level's were also not that great. I also compared the NEC540 which is better than most LCD's in black level, but I still see the pixels way back from the screen. I finally decided on a Infocus 340. Even through it's 800x600, the image looks better due to lack of visable pixels. Also DLP projectors due not have the green fog that LCD's are prone to have. They also have few if any defective pixels.
The bottom line is you have to see them because like speakers, everyone hears them different.

Chad,
Your best bet is to find people on this forum who live close to you and see their set ups.

You might check with some of the A/V presentation equipment rental places around town. Just check your phone book under Audio, (it's right after the 300 pages of attorneys). These places sometimes have locations where you can go buy and compare what they have on hand. Just givem a call.

As far as screen shots go, there aren't any I have found that do a direct comparison, but here are several that have screen shots on their websites.

And here is a good example of what can be done in a basement home theatre. Link Removed
Hope this helps.

Thanks Tim.Based on the screen shots, and I know I need to see some in person first,I think I like the look of the lcd over crt.
As for a basement theater,I have been in Patrick Bennetts theater

Chad, if you want I suppose we could skip waiting for a meet and you could check out my setup. Sony W400Q LCD projector. The bulb is +1000 hours and I can sorta tell, but still it's something.
What does Patrick have?
