I thinking of either buying a optoma hd70 or the mits hd1000u and I am wondering what aspect screen to buy. 1.78.1, 1.85.1, or 2.35.1. The hd1000u says something in the book about 2.35.1. I want the screen filled up most of the time without messing with the remote. I would rather have it right for dvds as opposed to hdtv. Also if anyone has an opionion on the hd70 vs. hd1000u that would be great. Also I never thought I would need to be talked into a projector but I sometimes play video games and the cost of the lamp makes me nervous as opposed to playing games on a tv were the lamp dosent cost me 400 every 2000 hours.

Thanks

Matt

I'm going to upgrade to one of these also. I'm 99% sure I'll buy the HD1000 due to everything I've read, and it's $100 cheaper. The only advantage I see with the HD70 is the 2 year warranty. I went with 1.78:1 because it gives me the biggest image with all sources. I watch HD satellite(1.78:1) DVD's and occasional 4:3 DVD's. DVD's cover all aspect ratios. And the bulb for both of those are just under $300.

Thats the way I am leaning also. But one question where did you find the bulbs for under 300.00? I have only found them for 395. I still am not sure about the screen ratio yet.

try tigerdirect.com

most likly your gonna end up selling your projector before you gotta replace it anyways. even if you use your projector daily its gonna take a couple years dont even worry about it.

Matt, sorry that I don't know how to post a link. Got to Froogle.com and punch in Mitsubishi HD1000u. Then click on sort "low to high". The bulb prices start at $298. The $395 price is the retail price.
