Legendary horror icon Peter Cushing stars in Hammer Films’ chill-you-to-the-bone tale of THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN. Coming soon to Blu-ray on November 19th.

Botanist Dr. John Rollason (Cushing) decides to join the exploration team of crass, American showman Tom Friend (Forrest Tucker) on a dangerous expedition into the Himalayas to search for the legendary Yeti. Soon after setting up camp, the group is attacked by a large beast which is shot by trapper Ed Shelley (Robert Brown) and stored in a cave to attract a live specimen. A smart, suspenseful and scary film that will set both your imagination and your fear of the unknown running wild, The Abominable Snowman is “definitely one of the best of Hammer’s earlier outings” (The Telltale Mind).

Extras to be announced on a later date. Pre-order now @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/product/the-abominable-snowman…

Love this film, which scared the hell out of me as a little kid. As an adult, I discovered just how suspenseful, atmospheric and well crafted it was, and with a memorable cast. Thank you Scream Factory for bringing us The Abominable Snowman on Blu!

This is one of Forrest Tucker's trio of British produced horror films from that 1957-58 period...along with the excellent Trollenberg Terror (Crawling Eye) and Strange World of Planet X (Cosmic Monsters)...I'm glad to have the truly excellent widescreen and unedited Image DVD of Crawling Eye, which is owned by Wade Williams... so make what you will of that as far as any further physical home video release, but I'd love to see it in a Blu...same with the much lesser but still interesting Cosmic Monsters...

Love the hyperbolic copy on these old films. I'd like to take the people that write this stuff and make them sit through a modern horror film.

I'm wondering if Shout is going to include the edited US version of the movie as a bonus feature, for comparison's sake.

What we have here is a very big difference of opinion, since I’m taking you at your word. This is, IMHO, a terrible movie. There is absolutely nothing to recommend it except that it’s so bad, it can be campy fun to watch. The FX, OMG, they approach Ed Wood territory.

Well, I kinda like it too, for all the wrong reasons. And oh, the heavy breathing. Takes me back to early porn movies.

First time I watched this movie, it was the early 1960s long before I knew about porn movies.:)

My first view wouldn’t have reminded me of them either. However, now it does. I might have a couple of years on you.

I wish there was an English version of this poster. It might find it’s way onto a pumpkin. I guess I could replace the text if I find a good font.

Not quite the same since it's a DVD cover rather than a lobby poster, but it might do. Here's a link to the full resolution version Johnny:

Well, I like THE TROLLENBERG TERROR a lot, and watched it over and over again (as THE CRAWLING EYE) on WOR-tv's Million Dollar Movie back in the day. In fact, other than the appearance of the monsters in the last 20 minutes or so (which for a kid was awesome), this is a fairly intelligent and well-acted sci-fi thriller. And I tend to be a Janet Munro completist.

The same here Dick. I used to watch it all the time on that channel and I think it played on Chiller theater too on WPIX.

Yes, it probably did play on Chiller Theater after WOR lost it. In any case, we kids had plenty of opportunities to watch it, albeit with mood-shattering commercials. The DVD is pretty decent, but a Blu-ray would of course by welcome. If this is another of the movies WW is holding hostage, I don't hold out much hope.

P.S. Even if WW "owns" the rights to the U.S. cut called THE CRAWLING EYE, I do not believe he has any sway over the British edition called THE TROLLENBERG TERROR, so perhaps we'll get a Blu from overseas.

I used to have The Crawling Eye on Laserdisc but sold it like I did with 2/3rds of my once huge laserdisc collection. At least I think I sold it. I will have to check.

I have all 3 of those films too and enjoy them all immensely. I even broke down and bought the UK version of Abominable hoping it was a better copy than the US version...it wasn't, it was just as crappy.

Going to order it right now! Thanks for the heads up Flashgear.

The film was called THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN where I worked. It never impressed me at all..There were far better sci-fi films in the fifties.
