LIFEFORCE Collector’s Edition Blu-ray™ + DVD Combo Pack
From the director of Poltergeist and the co-writer of Alien comes a thrilling sci-fi adventure of explosive action and pulse-pounding suspense! With mind-blowing special effects by Academy Award® winner John Dykstra (1977 Best Visual Effects, Star Wars), Lifeforce is a gripping mélange of genres that’s “so bizarre, it’s fascinating” (Leonard Maltin)!
A mission to investigate Halley's Comet discovers an even stranger phenomenon: an alien spacecraft! Following a deadly confrontation, the aliens arrive on Earth, where their seductive leader begins a terrifying campaign to drain the lifeforce of everyone she encounters. Her victims, in turn, continue the cycle, and soon the entire planet is in mortal danger. And when the mission's sole survivor (Steve Railsback – The Stunt Man) sets out to destroy her, he comes face to face with the most charming - and horrifying – being he's ever known. Will he be able to destroy the lovely vampiress...or will he become yet another victim of her fatal charm?

THE VAMPIRE LOVERS Blur-ray™
A female vampire with lesbian tendencies ravages the young girls and townsfolk of a peaceful hamlet in eighteenth century Europe who, years earlier, killed off her fellow vampires. Sheridan LeFanu's novella "Carmilla," The Vampire Lovers stars Ingrid Pitt, George Cole and Peter Cushing.
Now this “rather erotic Hammer chiller” (Leonard Maltin) appears on Bluray for the first time… If you dare, come into a twilight world of unspeakable horror and taste the deadly passion of the blood-nymphs!

The Vampire Lovers: From a Sept 2000 review of the US VHS edition:
This edition of the movie contains two scenes that have been previously deleted from other releases. The first scene is in the prologue with the decapitation of the vampire woman. The second scene is at the climax with several cuts reinstated between Peter Cushing and the demise of Carmilla. With these scenes finally added and a reproduction at standard play, this video is a must for any serious Hammer horror film fan.
This film on Blu Ray is available at Amazon from an import from Australia at around US$42.
The Scream Factory edition is not currently listed at Amazon.com for pre-order or Sign-up etc. The other title is for Sign-up & We will let you know etc.
Checking the Australian release of VL on a site shows no extras and a price of A$25 with a 19% discount to A$20.28.

As far as The Vampire Lovers is concerned, I am interested in that new interview with Madeline Smith. In my opinion Madeline Smith and Ingrid Pitt are the only reasons this film retains any interest. (Yes, I know. Hammer fans will now thrust a stake through my heart)

I like just about all Hammer for various reasons. Hopefully it'll be a great release

So does this mean that the longer International version of LIFEFORCE is only going to be available on the DVD, and not Blu-Ray? Or is the International cut the default on both Blu-Ray and DVD with the theatrical also available only on the Blu-Ray?

I suspect, (though am not 100% on this), that the Blu-Ray will contain both versions of LIFEFORCE, but that the DVD will only contain the International Version. Pooch

Lifeforce looks like an amazing release. I saw this movie for the first time last year on Netflix, and thought it was absolutely insane. Starring a "who's who" of British character actors, and with absurd amounts of gore and nudity, it really is a wild movie.
The legendary Golan/Globus didn't make many horror movies unfortunately (apart from Superman IV of course), but this really is a masterpiece of 80's low-budget bizarreness!
I'll definitely be buying it.
(Can't wait for Scream Factory's releases of The Burning and The Fog as well. They're definitely shaping up as the new Blue Underground!)

Excellent film, one of my all-time faves. By the by, it ain't low-budget; it cost $25 million, big-budget for 1985. Unfortunately, it made only $11.5 million of that back in the U.S. I have no idea how it did overseas. I've been waiting for a definitive version of this, and already have my pre-order in at Scream Factory.

Wow. I guess I just assumed it was low-budget because it was made by Cannon!
Shame it didn't make much money. I would love to have seen more of these adult sic-fi/horror made in the 80's!

Hi, LIFEFORCE is indeed a great, (if cheesy), 1980's sci-fi/horror film. Steve Railsback, Mathilda May, Frank Finlay and a cameo from Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard in television's STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION) as well. Some superb special effects, a fun storyline, some great gore and Mathilda May naked in space!!!! What more could you want?!?!?! :D My only disappointment is that Shout Factory only allow US and Canadian folks to pre-order, and get the poster. The rest of us have to make-do with Amazon, and don't get the poster either. :( Pooch
