    Hey all,

i was just wondering if there was an actual good version of Scream (the first one) released anamorphically in NTSC??? I know that the directors cut was the one released in Japan/Korea but the quality was supposed to suck. Is there a good release of this?

I just purchased the box set and was trying to find the best ones to get rid of and how to optimize it.

    Thanks!

R4 (Australia) has released the theatrical version anamorphic with DTS. I don't know of any other release which meets this criteria.

The French release is Anamorphic and has DTS. It is PAL and has French Subs that only some DVD players can remove.

I have the Japanese disc and I don't think the quality sucks.

On second thought, after the holidays, I think I'll ask Gary to do a comparison of the R2J and R1 discs at dvdbeaver.com.

I have the Japanese release as well as the region 4 with DTS... I can say that although the pic and sound is better on the region 4, it isn't by much. The Japanese wins hands down for having the unrated version. Unless someone else rereleases it (and it won't be uncut r1 ever it seems due to BV's anti-unrated policy) you can be assured the Japanese disc is as good as it gets.

If BV has a anti-unrated policy then how did the laser disc come out uncut?

So no chance they would license it to say Blue Underground or Anchor Bay?

Not likely, as I'd imagine it would be a cash cow they'd like to hang on to.
