Hi Guys! Has anyone seen this disc yet? How does it look, and, is it uncut?
    Thanks!

I believe MGM has been good about releasing things like this uncut.
I saw the Dvd once in Best Buy but it was in the hands of a guy I was talking to and it was their only Copy. I have been in two different Best buys since and have not found it.
They were only asking like $10 for it too. I should of poped that guy upside the head and taken his DVD and checked out with it. [IMG]

The transfer is not bad at all but it seems there is some trouble with the audio with chapter's 11 & 12, the audio is slightly out of sync than goes back to normal. [IMG]

I picked up my copy on this past Saturday, 3 days before street date (which is tomorrow). I paid $9.99 for it, but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Because I also bought about 7 other titles before street date!
I could have picked up Gump today for $24.99, but I decided to wait until tomorrow and get the Best Buy price of $17.99!

Got my copy of Scanners at Best Buy today for $9.99 - gonna give it a spin in a bit. I do wish it was an S.E., but at ten bucks for a bare-bones edition, I won't complain...

As for the R rating. MGM has been doing that for just about all of there midnite movies releases, but putting back all & any censored gore or nudity. Swamp Things PG,yet has the complete topless Adrienne Barrbeau scene. TCM 2 is R rated, but is really the uncut version.
I don't know if anything was cut from Scanners, though who knows the MPAA was really strict & getting worse in the 80's. It may or may not be uncut, but either way it's on dvd + i don't know if anything was censored in the first place.

    Cristina,
    TCM 2?
Maybe I am slow this morning but I can't figure it out. [IMG]
I do think she is right though. I got Swamp Thing and it says PG and I remember thinking while watching it, how the hell is this PG?
If this is the case then I am real happy with the way MGM is handling the cut/uncut thing.

I did a review that's not yet up at dOc, but anyway. It's a good transfer, but the disc is zilch in supplients or even respectful presentation. MGM is really getting on my nerves with this crap. Anyhow, the out of sync sound problem, if I recall, is also in the original version. Almost the entire film was dubbed in post, and there's some bad lip flap through the movie, especially from the central actor Stephen Lack.

What's different about the unrated version as opposed to the "R" version?

Maybe someone else knows more, but I've never heard of a legit "unrated" version. The R rated one is the same one that's always been shown. The only alternate versions I've ever come across are ones that cut the film and shortened the more violent sequences.

Has anyone found this north of the border yet? None of the majors seem to have it.
    Thanks
