I'm getting A Sharp XV-Z9000U, RCA HDTV satellite receiver and a Panasonic RP91 DVD player. I believe I need to get a scaler to display the HDTV signal. I'm lost trying to figure out between scalers, their huge price difference and which ones will be best for this equipment? Thanks..

Since you didn't specify a budget, I'm assuming you don't have one. I'd say the Teranex Xantus is your best bet.

I don't believe you necessarily "need" a scaler, unless to your eyes the scaler in the XV-Z9000 needs improvement.

Also, I believe there were past cases in which the XV-Z9000 would not bypass an external scaler's signal, meaning the source was scaled twice. I believe this issue has at least partially been fixed with a firmware update. Check with Sharp.

    Cheers
