These two now have official R1 release dates. This news comes from Fangoria:

Fango has learned that Lions Gate Home Entertainment has set video street dates for its pair of hardware-happy horror films. The box-office hit SAW (pictured) will arrive February 15, 2005, and the DVD will include a widescreen transfer with Dolby 5.1 audio, a commentary by director/co-writer James Wan and star/co-writer Leigh Whannell, a music video for Fear Factory’s "Bite the Hand That Feeds" song, a featurette on the making of that video and trailers. Tobe Hooper’s TOOLBOX MURDERS, which has been slaying ’em on the festival circuit, follows a month later on March 15; this film will also be given special-edition DVD treatment, but there’s no word yet on just what the features will be. We’ll keep you posted. —Michael Gingold

Obviously picking up Saw. Doesn't look like it'll be the uncut version as previously claimed, but honestly, I never expected it to be. I'm still peeved about key scenes LG took and left out of Cabin Fever.

I'll also double dip on Toolbox since its supposed to be a SE.

Is this the only thread on the Saw DVD? OK.

I agree with you, JS. The fact that this version is 100 minutes, and not 102, tells me that an "uncensored director's cut" release is not too far off. Grrrr.

I'm curious if Toolbox Murders will be an R-rated version. I've seen the full version and I can't imagine it would escape the MPAA uncut. If Lion's Gate is only releasing a censored edition, I'll skip and get it from another region.

Unfortunately, since posting this thread, I saw in Rue Morgue that LG is releasing it cut for an R. Later I saw that the DVD will include cut gore footage as an extra. :rolleyes:Screw that and their extras, I'm sticking with my R2 disc.
