    Hi there,

The subject line says it all:

Does it have English subtitles or only English Closed Captions. If it's English Closed Captions, then it's no use for me, because televisions in Europe don't have the CC decoder. But there are some cases, like the recent "Blood Simple" dvd, that only have English Closed Captions but these can be accessed through the dvd menu.

I don't want to buy this title only to find out i can't access the subtitles.

    Thanks for your help,

    António

There are two versions available. The DD 5.1 DVD has captions that can be accessed through the DVD-menu. The DTS version doesn't have these, so if the subtitles are important to you, you should go for the DD 5.1 version.

Saving Private Ryan has "captioned English subtitles."

I own both versions and both have English subtitles selectable from the DVD menu.

Oh, I'm sorry if I was incorrect.
I based my information on this page on the IMDB. I also checked the back-covers on DVDplanet and on the DD 5.1 version captions are mentioned and on the DTS versions they are not.
