I have basic cable coming through the wall no digital or anything like that. I want to be able to watch some cable/sports on the projector so I've been told I need a dish or digital cable. If this is true I'll go dish but what do I need the dish reciever to have if I want to hook it up to my reciever then to projector (Panasonic AE500.) Thought I would post in here rather than ask the dish guy, sure he would take some of my HT savings away.

Thanks

As long as the projector has the same input for video signals as the cable box has outputs (i.e., S-video, composite, etc.) you’re in business.

If not you can send the signal from a VCR.

I think the point he was trying to make is that you can’t send the cable feed straight to the projector. The projector is merely a display device and does not have a built-in tuner like VCRs, TVs, cable boxes and sat receivers do.
