Samsung DIRECTV/HDTV Receiver with DVI, RGB and Dolby Digital Outputs

    Model: SIR-TS160

I just had a huge post written but it canceled it because i am new and posted a link, ugh!
anyway quick recap, new to hd, just bought the receiver, couple questions: can i use the off air antanne without using the direct tv? does it upconvert signals to 1080i?because it says selectable output is that what that means, i bought it on ebay will direct tv give me problems switching it to my name?
thanks for any help, wish the original post went through,
i get profit sharing today from work so hopefully the wife will let me buy a nice hdtv, but she sees no difference in a old 4:3 set to a 16:9 set

I thought my wife would be the same way. She likes HD but loves the DirecTivo. That's why I'll be getting the new HD DirecTivo.

does getting a new card mean calling direct tv and wasting more time?

Yes. If you buy a used receiver from eBay, you will have to get a new access card.
