This movie is completely awesome and that is an understatement. The film contains some very great dialogue and a great character transformation. Also, Kaoru Yachigusa is very beautiful to watch.
Concerning the Criterion DVD, why is this film in 1.33:1? Is there no other aspect ratio? Is there another version of this movie with a different aspect ratio?
Also, I would have enjoyed a commentary. Probably most of the crew are dead, but a historian or the like would have been nice. The scenery is also so beautiful. I guess that's why I was wondering about the aspect ratio.
Also, is there anything else concerning the trilogy like documentaries?

    The aspect ratio is correct.
All pre-1950s films were 1.37:1 (which translates as 1.33:1 on home video - a tiny bit is shaved off the sides), and the Academy ratio (1.37:1) was used for films up until 1970 (Night of the Living Dead, in 1968, is an example), though quite rarely.
As far as extra supplements, I'm sure stuff has been written about this trilogy. It's just a case of tracking it down.
Criterion don't re-visit titles once they're released (though Jon Mulvaney has hinted that some early discs might be re-released with anamorphic transfers), so the chances of special editions of the three are very narrow indeed.

Please help get both versions of Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures onto the upcoming DVD!
