I recently purchased a Samsung QN65Q70RAFXZA and have been trying to get it to play nice with my Fios One and Yamaha RX-V579 receiver.

I have all my devices including my Fios One, Raspberry Pi with Kodi and Xbox One run through my Yamaha receiver. It was a pain in the butt to get the sound to work and to have the Samsung TV recognize my receiver but once I did that it seemed to be working fine till the next day. My TV keeps flashing between a blank screen, snow screen, green screen then briefly picture from the FIOS box and just keeps repeating. I can hear sound from the FIOS box half the time while this flashing keeps going. I thought it might have been the cable so I replaced the HDMI cable from the FIOS box to the receiver with a brand new one and things were fine for about a day and the flashing started up again.

I don't fully understand how the handshakes and all those work but I'm guessing it has something to do with it. I have HDMI control on the Yamaha turned on (only way I can get the sound to come through) and TV set to output sound through the receiver.

Thanks in advance!!!

You only should need to have TV sound output through the receiver if you are using smart TV streaming apps on your TV and want the sound output through your receiver. HDMI control (which you have turned on) shouldn't have any impact on where sound is directed. That is odd.

Did everything work well before the new TV and do your Kodi and XBOX have the same issue?

It feels like a resolution issue (which is admittedly unusual with modern equipment). I don't seen any manual selection on the receiver, so check the Fios and Samsung to see if they have a resolution output adjustment (auto is best).
Also, if yu tuened it on, turn off ARC on the TV and receiver. (It didn't seem like you were trying to get audio from the TV to the receiver and an ARC incompatibilities do happen.)

I also have a samsung tv and a yamaha reciever. For me it's an arc issue. But I'm about to change a few components. My current work around is not too bad at all. I have to press tv on the yamaha remote once to turn everything on. And then 10 seconds later I need to press it again so the proper hdmi input stays put. Because after a few seconds it goes to AV4 or something. Cant stop that from happening unless I rehook everything up. But like I said, soon it wont be a problem.
