My sister in-law has a P231 player and I was tinkering around with the setup options and noticed in the video display section it lists 525i and 525p as options? Also the player defaults to playing videos in spanish. it also has numerous foreign languages as options for subtitles etc... i think this was purchased at the local Bazaar in the barrio they live in.

Is this a non US region player, a PAL player? It plays DVD's fine on our NTSC tv sets. according to the Samsung site the P231 is a USA 480p model.

Thanks

Your player is probably set to play the spanish tracks on the DVD player in the setup menu. Go to the setup menu and change the language setting. No, if it was meant to be sold in Mexico (which it probably was given the language thing) then it definately is NTSC and not PAL.
