I've read a few things regarding the compatibility of the new HD Samsung DVD player and my TV, some say it'll work, some say not, so I've come here. As you can probably tell I have a Toshiba 56H80, meaning no DVI. If I use the component output from the new Samsung player, am I going to receive an HD quality signal from the player? I work at best buy and we have our HD stuff going through components and it still looks much better than progressive. Any help is appreciated.

Also, if I can't do component out to component in, is there an adapter that I could use to use the DVI output and use the component input to the tv?

Hi Brandon, The Samsung will only do 720p/1080i through the DVI port only. It has something to do with copy protection. I don't think you can do component to DVI, because one is analog and the other is digital.

The Samsung DVD player is not recommended if you don't have DVI on your TV. The reviews say DVI = Great, No DVI = Not So Great.
