I guess some folks are making use of the final promos to buy some of those in bulk for resale... maybe 10 at a time...

Sounds like some of you guys haven’t tried to mail any largish packages lately.
It’s not cheap the way it was only a few years ago.
Just about any shoebox sized item will easily be more then ten dollars and then that goes up substantially with higher weights.
We have essentially stopped mailing gifts out because it’s not cost effective anymore.

We do mostly gift cards now and digital ones at that since too many actual GCs have been stolen.

What final promos?

10 for $100 (for those particular titles) plus 10% off (for $100-plus order).

There are also 15% and 20% off promos (for $200-plus and $500-plus orders), but they probably aren't quite good enough to beat the stacked promos for first 10 titles of an order unless there aren't enough left to make up another 10-unit order...

Media Mail is still quite cheap though it has other problems for some people. Personally I've never had a problem shipping or receiving via MM.

TTM shipping cost aren't cheap, but they aren't keeping most of that money like it seems some people seem to believe (not particularly on this forum). Most of the cost is the actual Expedited./Priority Shipping costs.

Usually what I do for gifts now is to order the gift to be sent directly to the recipient by whatever website I'm buying it from, so that they still get it but I don't actually have to ship it to them.

I've had tons of problems shipping media mail. I could probably write about it all day. I do appreciate that TTM and SAE don't use it. I'd be really nervous if they sent a sold-out title media mail that I wouldn't get it.

Would I like their shipping rates to be cheaper? Sure. Has it ever stopped me from ordering something I wanted from them anyway? Nope. Even earlier this week when I wanted two cases, and the merchandise total was $1, and the shipping was $5.93, I still did it.

As of right now, I notice that SAE still has their sale prices active for their remaining Twilight Time discs. I wonder if that will change and they'll go back to full price next week after TT's site closes down. They probably could get people to pay full price for stuff once they are the exclusive distributor again. Everything I want from TT is either here, ordered or so long out of print that I couldn't get it now anyway, so I'm personally done. But it would be a shrewd business move on SAE's part to end sale prices next week.

I wonder how long my July 1 order will take to arrive - it is what it is but I wonder if it’ll be summer or fall viewing for me :D

Josh, I am but one upon thousands of satisfied TT customers; but perhaps you can have a bit of fun with the timeline of my final two orders. My first order of May 10th was shipped out on June 16th. My second order was placed on June 9th and is still “Awaiting Shipment”. I’m good with all of it, as they are truly working hard. :thumbs-up-smiley:

I had my early orders during the sale ship out from TT relatively quickly after I bought them, but that was when they were shipping smaller orders first. I made the mistake of buying titles separately over the course of multiple orders instead of buying them all together and saving on shipping, because I kept finding new things I wanted after my earlier orders were already completed.

Now that they have switched to shipping in sequence based on order date, regardless of how large the order is, I've been waiting a long time on my final order with discs in it, which was placed on June 1. Their most recent email on the topic indicates that they expect to ship orders from June 1 on or about July 7. So that should be next week hopefully. I'm looking forward to getting it but am not particularly anxious. It'll just be something fun whenever it gets here.

I think I read somewhere, although I don't have an email that says so, that any orders placed in their final week would take 3 to 4 weeks to ship and would not be shipped until all previously pending orders had been shipped. My new order from this week is just two of the replacement clear cases. While of course I want it, I'm less concerned about getting that one quickly because there isn't going to be a movie in it, so if it takes to the end of July or early August to get here, that's fine.

Appears that entering the last day of the sale there are approx 15100 units left of 42 titles.
though the number of title is more flexible than you'd think. Late last night a single unit of about 20 titles
suddently showed up (assuming those were a bunch of those ticked off customers who cancelled due to slow
dispatches. All 20 of the titles were gone within a couple hours along with the larger Quantity Restocks of
L-Shaped Room and B&C&T&A.

Around 1am ET a huge number of items started being bought. Overall sales for Sunday was a little under 600 units, but
over 200 appeared to be sold b/w 1 and 2am ET including over 20 copies of WILD IN THE COUNTRY (somebody really likes Elvis)

GENGHIS KHAN (1965) -- SOLD OUT
BOBBY DEERFIELD (1977) 13

Deerfield may have a legit chance of selling out in the next 6 hours. I'm not sure anything else will, but the last minute panic rush at the end of a 4 month long sale may yet infect some buyers with the urge -- so others of note.

I have already placed my final orders, so I'm good. But I find it fascinating what's selling. So thank you for doing these posts. Tomorrow, will it be possible to figure out how many discs are being absorbed by Screen Archives?

I don't know what will still be up tomorrow. I'll stay up as long as I can, but maybe not to th bitter end since I have a 6 hr drive to make tomorrow. I'll eventually get a massive set of statistics done for TTM March to July done and see what shakes out.

There's a bit over 14K units left right now so I'm guessing 13.5-14K by the end of the night will possibly be sent to SAE. I think 40 titles left currently. I don't think there will be another 1000 unit seller like Bandolero and Three Coins though. I think Quiller Memorandum and The Tall Men are the next closest at a bit under 900 right now so they'd have to have a major rush to get close.

Oh, don't worry about the timeframe; I only said tomorrow because that's when they've indicated they will stop accepting new orders, not because I actually need the info tomorrow. Be safe on your drive.

I just find it interesting and exciting that the closing sale has been such a resounding success for TTM. If they had to go out, at least they are going out with a bang and their terrific work on these discs will be justly celebrated.

My final order with discs in it was Three Coins in the Fountain and Carla's Song on June 1, which their recent estimates indicate should ship tomorrow, or probably at the least by the end of the week depending on how much being closed for the holiday impacted them. Then I have an order from last week with just replacement cases in it, which I do want but which doesn't seem as important as the one with the movies.

I likely won't compile anything more than the basics tonight, but I'm not sure if all the discs will go away at 3am ET or is the last available number will remain static for a couple days. If it zeroes out then anything that happens the last couple hours will be hidden from my snooping anyway so I need to get as close to the end as possible to get the best number -- anal retentive with a spreadsheet ain't no way to go through life and stay sane or well rested.
