SACD Player for under $180 (1 Viewer)

Is there a DVD player that also plays SACD for under $180. And if so, is it available in stores, I saw one for 169 on amazon.com. I t was a philips, but I don't see it at any stores. Let me know, I have a great DVD Player, I just want to play SACDs without spending much money .

I think someone in the For Sale page was selling a Sony NSD500V which has gotten good reviews. It plays SACD/DVD/VCD, etc. Never toyed with one myself though.

Derek, unfortunately, there are no current SACD players that are that cheap. The Sony SCD-CE775 was going for $180-200 when it was being phased out. However, it disappeared from retailers some months ago. A used unit is probably your best bet now.

Sony is currently offering the DVP-NS755V single-disc progressive-scan DVD/SACD player for around $250. Best Buy occasionally has it on sale for $237. You may be able to get it for less through discount mail-order dealers, such as Oade Bros. (1-229-228-0093 or 1-229-228-4480), OneCall (1-800-349-4770), or J&R Music World (1-800-221-8180). I have the predecessor to the DVP-NS755V, which is the DVP-NS500V. To my ears SACDs sound stunning on it, and I got it as a Best Buy floor model for onlt $112. Can't beat that with a stick. Give the cheap Sonys a try, they're a hell of a bargain IMO. Though mine screwed up on "Fargo" last night.

I agree with Philip on the 500V, if you can still find one. Its a decent DVD player, and I've really enjoyed the SACD capability of it.
I have heard that It has bass-management problems on 5.1 SACDs, so you may want to consider the replacement.
