I always thought that S-Video cables were superior to Composite Cables for Video. My friend just purchased a Yamaha AVR and in the manuel it recommends Composite over S-Video.Is this a mistake in the manuel? Can anyone clarify what the difference is and a reason why Yamaha might recommend those cables?

It sounds like a mis-print. They probably ment Component (or the marketing department wanted you to feel good about buying a receiver that only offeres Composite video switching [IMG] )
It's NOT that the SVideo cables are any "better", but that they carry signals already seperated by the production studio equipment.
