    Hello all,

I have a question. What is the longest run that I can have for either an s-video cable or L,R,Vid RCA cable? I have (2) tivo units that I want to connect to a dvd recorder and one is in my office, the other is in my bosses offices. They are about 25-30' apart. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Marc

While I have not tested it, I asked this in another forum a couple days ago. The response was 150' ish. Or using something like the BVD-10 as shown on http://www.audiocontrol.com/multi_room.htm

    But those things are expensive.

I have a 30 foot S-video cable running now, (I bought it from one of the members here)and it works great. You should be able to find one for good picture results. Then use coax cable with a RF to Line connectors for you sound.

At 25-30', the best thing you can do is go with two runs of RG6, attached to s-video breakouts at both ends.

That's true, my run is to a 24 inch Apex T.V. in the den. Far better than Coax, and better than composite even using an RG 6 cable with RF to line connection.

Have you considered an amp to gain signal before you make that long run?
I have one by Niles that does RCA and have seen some amps that do S-video as well. You may want to look into it.

Those 2.4Ghz wireless video transmission systems have problems. I see even with a clear only 10foot distance there are dropouts about once a minute or so.
