I heard and read that Rush Hour 2 is being released by
New Line Cinema as an Infinifilm DVD.
Well I thought it was a very nice movie but does this realy
need to be a Infinifilm DVD ??
What do you all think about this.
Anyway the dvd has a tentative release-date of December 11
and this is my view on how the dvd should be :
    Anamorphic Widescreen
    Dolby Digital 5.1
DTS (Which will most likely not be on it)
Audio Commentary by Brett Ratner , Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker
    Making of Rush Hour 2
    Deleted Scene's
    Trailers
    Production photo's
    Stills
    Music Video's
    DVD-ROM Content
When this is all on the dvd I will be very happy indeed. [IMG]

    Infinifilm for Rush Hour 2?
I dont see how it could benefit.
They just need to trick it out like they did when Rush Hour 1 hit DVD.

I agree. Infinifilm is supposed to take you "inside the stories behind the movie," ala interviews with George Jung in Blow.
What's the reality of the Rush Hour series? Interviews with real life wacky sidekicks?

Please, please please do not make it an Infinify film. I really do not like them as they do not even support such fundamental features like English subtitles. I use to like New Line but now they behind even MGM on my list.

Oh, I don't know if I'd go THAT far. [IMG] Their New Line Platinum discs are the same as they've always been, right? And we haven't yet seen MGM's new policy. Neither studio captions (or subtitles) extras. And at least New Line HAS extras. Nah, I can't put them below MGM.
As for the subject of the thread, they will likely do InfinFilm for various reasons, just like Criterion does special editions of movies like The Rock and Armegeddon. Rush Hour 2 made tons of money, and they probably figure the DVD will sell well too. In their minds, that may be enough to warrant InfiniFilm status.

Didn't Criterion do a DVD of the Beatie Boys? Or was it some other music act? If so, why would Criterion waste their energy on that? [IMG]

This is all new for Infinifilm and I'm more for taking the wait and see attitude. For all we know it might turn out to be brilliant and to criticize without seeing the end result is not wise. IMHO

I think the Infinifilm label is an interesting idea and would work well with certain titles that are historically based (i.e., Thirteen Days). I enjoyed Rush Hour 2 at the theater, but don't think it would make for all that interesting an Infinifilm disk. Like others mentioned, how behind the scenes and into the facts can we get on a film like Rush Hour 2?

Sebastian, you might be right but then there's a 50% chance you might also be wrong. After all, we don't have a comedy to measure it with. So why not wait and see what the end result is? Actually we have no choice. [IMG]

    Hi Quint,
"Rush Hour 2" like "Thirteen Days" will be an Infinifilm release. I think this film which fixes the problems that the first film had warrants Special Edition Treatment. In my estimation although the first film was good, "Rush Hour 2" Rocks!

NEW LINE, which was and still is an top notch studio for its dvd policy ( some of the most beautiful transfers ever done ) should better go the way of Sony with Superbits dvds ( though 1/2 dts is a joke ) instead of the other way around with video game like features etc: the simpler, the purer, the better !!!
and this goes for all studios. but I'm note J6P so..... [IMG]

agree, I'll take a 1/2 dts over a dolby but I agree some dolby sound superbly great.
I don't want to reopend the superbit debate here. Infinifilm: I say no.
