I have been looking for a plate amp, and it seems in my reading that a rumble filter is recommended mainly for ported subs.

Is it recommended for sealed as well?

No, you can use one if you wish but it is not required especially if your going to be using it to drive something like a Shiva or Tempest. The sealed enclosure won't unload the driver below FB so over excursion with typical program material is unlikly unless your running an extreme amount of power through the sub.

Personally I like the sub to receive the full fury of 10 hz subsonics because you can feel it and its a cool effect.

A rumble filter can be a very good idea if you plan to play vinyl with your sub. I see no use for it with digital sources.
