When RSL announced the 12S Speedwoofer, it quickly started a buzz throughout the home theater community. The anticipation was high for this subwoofer that promised to deliver high-end performance at a competitive price point. As someone deeply invested in home theater and audio, I was excited for the opportunity to experience this subwoofer for myself and see if it lived up to the considerable expectations.
Unboxing and First Impressions
Right out of the gate, the RSL 12S impressed me with its packaging. The unboxing experience was straightforward, and I had zero concerns about damage during shipping. Within minutes, I had it set up and ready to go – a testament to its user-friendly design.
Design and Build Quality
While the RSL 12S may not turn heads like some higher-end subwoofers with piano black finishes, it holds its own in terms of build quality. It blends nicely into my theater room without drawing unnecessary attention, but this sub differentiates itself from others with the promise of high-end performance at a relatively low price.
One thing to note is that despite being a 12″ subwoofer, it has a fairly large footprint. It’s comparable in size to the SVS PB-2000 Pro (another ported design) but noticeably larger than non-ported alternatives like the SVS SB-2000 Pro or my reference Dayton Audio subwoofer.
