My processor has a RS232 port in the back for custom control, the DVD changer I'm looking for (Sony DVP-777ES) also has a RS232 port. The question is what software do I need to control the devices?

    Thanks,

    Simon

Hmmm I thought the ports were intended to be connected to a receiver of the same brand? For example, your DVD changer should be plugged into a Sony receiver via the custom RS232 ports, and when you use the remote on your receiver, it would take control of the DVD changer (as well as be aware of the DVD changer's status).

I don't know of any software you can use to have a PC control it though. But, maybe someone has reverse-engineered the protocol used?

I hate to do this, but I have to suggest searching AVSForum.com to see if anyone has done this.

The local shop you bought from should have the software, if there is any.
