RPTV life expectancy (1 Viewer)

This is just a really general question. How long does a rear-projection TV last? I have a 46" RCA RPTV and after about 9 years and gets used about 5 hours a day, I think it's time to get a replacement. The set is turning itself off and on by itself once in a while as well.

A Mits that I gave my parents is now 13 years old and it is still kicking ...

Seen a few repairs over the years totaling about $800 but nothing major like CRT replacement.

They keep the contrast down ...
