I spend some quality time staring at a SONY WEGA 60 LCD and a SONY KP 60" (CRT) side by side today. Both were playing HDTV demo. Both were fabulous.

My impression was that WEGA had a film like display, more detail, while the CRT had more dynamic range in the blacks. The black range was fairly pronounced on the WEGA.

Might be worth to wait a couple years while they improve the LCD technology a bit.

    what do you think?

I guess it all depends on if you have any restrictions for the big box in your living room or not. RPTV's are exactly easy to move and that is a huge plus for the LCD technology and also it is native 720/768 as the RPTV's are not. This is important to me because of Fox, ABC and ESPN being 720p native.

As far as waiting, you can wait but its really a guessing game at this point. I doubt the technology will improve as much as other technologies replacing it. Me personally I prefer the Hitachi LCD's over the Sonys.
