I'm having a bad Toshiba replaced by Sears and I just wondered what people thought about this years sets from the above brands. Looking in the 50" range.

Are any of them more tweakable or more versatile for an ISF? Are there any gotcha's like Toshiba's 540 upconversion?

Anyone know if the Hitachi's upconvert also? Had a look at HTS and all the stuff on the flicker problem is a bit worrying.

Yes, hitachi upconverts to either 540p or 1080i

    Ted,

Would that make Mits and Pioneer the only major brands that don't upconvert?

Thats what I came down to when I was looking for a set to replace my hitachi 43uwx10b(I couldnt stand the upconversion artifacts + I was getting bad service from hitachi). I was all set to get the mitsu 411 until I saw the Pioneer sd-533hd5. I ended up with the pioneer & have been more than happy with its performance-it is worth every penny I spent on it!
