I have read about Panasonic's rp61, which i am not even sure if it will reach the U.S. Is this true?

Also, i think i read that it comes with a built in decoder which would lead to an overall decrease in quality. If anyone knows any information about the rp61 please say.

Steve, the RP-61 was discontinued this past summer. I was told that Panasonic had problems with it and decided not to bother since they already had the RP-56 and RP-91 coming out.

Steve, I seem to remember reading that Panasonic unveiled a new progressive-scan DVD-Audio player at the CES in January. Maybe the model number was the 'RP62, but I'm not sure. In any event, I would bet that Panasonic will be coming out with a new model (at least one) this year.

i think it was the RP61 that had a small release, however i dont think it ever made it to the US. i remember someone on this forum (a Northerner) offered to purchase a few units in Canada for any interested parties. i think the player was, as Norm said, stricken with bugs and various other problems so it didnt get off the ground.
that's all i remember about this failed product. i was very disappointed in Panasonic, as i wanted to buy a cheaper progressive scan + DVD-A player. i finally scraped up enough for an RP91 though. [IMG]
