Sony seems to have dominated the RP-LCD market(at least here on Long Island). I like the PQ of these sets, but am wondering if anyone has experience with other brands.

A head to head comparison in the Best Buy, Circuit City, etc., stores is impossible; they're all overdriven and poorly calibrated.

I'm shopping for/advising a friend, and he is looking for maximum bang for the buck; so please offer any other brands that are comparable, and perhaps less expensive.

    Thanks...

PS- Because of his room(too much light), RP-CRT is out, and I've not seen any DLP's that I have ever liked.

    Greetings

If the room can't handle a RP LCd .. then it can't handle a DLP either. Same perceived light issues. Although I have worked on plenty of LCD sets in very well lit rooms and the image is just fine.

    Look at Hitachi LCD then.

Panasonic LCD may have calibration issues if one wants to tweak.
