I have a RP-82 dvd player, which has dvd-audio capabilities. My question is, can the dvd-a be sent out through the coax cable like the audio from a dvd-v? Or does it have to be sent out through the analog 5.1 outs?

Thanks for any help

Nope, due to piracy concerns, all hi-resolution music (DVD-A and SACD), regardless of mfg or model of player, is only available thru the analog outs.

DVD-A's typically have 2 or 3 tracks on them: a conventional 2 channel PCM track, a DD or DTS encoded multichannel conventional track, and the enhanced resolution multichannel track (technically the 24bit/192kHz MLP encoded track).

The enhanced resolution track must be played thru the 5.1 analog outs, the other two tracks can be played via the digital ports.
