I'm still trying to decide if I'm getting this or not (decided to skip the beta), but have a question I'm hoping someone can answer.

My current DSL "Modem" is a Cisco 675. The 675 has a built in DHCP server so does routing for me. It's hooked into a 10/100 switch. Now if I was adding another PC it'd be as simple as running a cable from the switch to the PC and the 675 will assign an IP. I'm wondering if this type of setup will work for XBL or not? I'm assuming it would, but was hoping someone has a similar config using a 675 or 678 and could comment.

    TIA!

Looks like I may have answered my own question. Doing a usenet search A guy has a setup pretty much the same as mine and he said it works good.

Still wouldn't mind hearing from anyone here with a similar setup.

I think your setup should be fine. I won't get my Live! until next week, but from what I've seen you just connect the XBOX as another computer on a DHCP network.

As long as the router doesn't block ICMP traffic, you should be fine.

Thanks guys. What's the verdict on XBL? I'm not much of a racer and don't really play sports games. Still worth it? I'm more of an RPG and shooter with a story kind of guy.

Looks like I can get it for $35 + shipping so I'm pretty sure I'll do it. Galaxies is going to be part of XBL right?

I'm pretty sure SWG will come to XBL, but I'm not sure how long it will be after the PC launch. Personally, I'm going with the PC version just because I prefer a kb/mouse for mmorpg.

How are you getting XBL for $35?
