I don't know what this thread would have been without you Randall. Now I can say I understand better the plot of this somewhat whacky episode. Thank you!
I completely agree. Randall really gets this series and Stirling Silliphant's lushly poetic (and, it must be said, sometimes opaque) writing, and has set me straight on a number of plot points in assorted episodes as well. Best of all, Randall, is your phenomenal knowledge of the historical context that underpins these episodes, along with so many fascinating details about the cities, towns, buildings and local businesses where these Route 66 episodes were filmed.

What a worthy, memorable tribute you both are providing to viewers new and old of this very worthy and most memorable TV series.

There are few forums on Route 66, but they mostly deal with a particular released.

I have the complete series on dvd and decided to watch it for the first time. I really like the character interaction between Tod and his partners. Tod (Martin Milner) is a very good person, especially having a heart to care or help people.

I watched some episodes from S2 and it is amazing to see some of the up and coming stars of the 1970s/1980s on the show. There are episodes with Robert Duval, Robert Redford and even some hotties of the time like Anne Baxter or other gorgeous females.

I recommend this show to any classic TV show buff as it is very well written and has actors that you can really get into their characters!

Regards,
Paul Young
Shout Video has the serties on DVD...how are the transfers? And just FYI, spelling his name as Tod is true, but you know what that translates to in German right?

Another terrific photo essay, Neal, with what are many obviously precisely-chosen, evocative screencaps...and now, coupled by Randall's wonderful write-up on this episode. This is another one I've not yet seen, and both of your guys' work is making me consider watching it later tonight.
Thanks Jeff for the very kind words. I'd love to hear your comments after watching.

It's all about the love, right Randall?

You have the airdate wrong, that should be November 8, 1963. That very same night, Jo Van Fleet also guest starred in a 77 Sunset Strip episode titled "Don't Wait For Me." The events of November 22 would be two weeks away!
