I am finally upgrading to 7.1, and I intend to add a Rotel 1080 amp to the 1095 I already have. How hot does a 1080 get, and how much air space does it need to cool properly. My system is in an audio cabinet so heat is a concern.

The 1080 I had in my system ran very cool, even in an enclosed cabinet with 4" of clearance above it.

All of the Rotel amps I have ever owned except for the 991 ran cool.

You don't have to goto other websites to talk about Rotel.

My 1080 runs fairly warm but I've also got it in a cabinet with only about 2 inches clearance around it. However, I use it to power my mains. For surrounds, I bet it wouldn't get hot at all.

I'm really not sure why the 991 runs warm. I know both of mine do.

The 991 isn't class A, it's AB like all other Rotel Amps that I know of. In fact, it's virtually identical electrically to the 1080 (cosmetically as well...), so I'm not really sure what is responsible.
