    Hi,

I'm researching the Rotel RDV995 and 1080 DVD players. I would appreciate receiving any information y'all may have about them. I'm aware of the basic differences between them; I'm looking for info about their performance, etc. Thanks.

I heard the 1080 is essentially the same as the ol' JVC 723 progressive scan DVD-player. The most crucial similarity between the two is the Mediamatics de-interlacer for prog-scan. Check out ht/hifi online for their conclusions and feelings about this chip.

The non-progressive player is essentially a high end CD player that plays DVDs. It is built very well. I'd recommend it to someone who does not need or want progressive and is heavily into music as well as HT. The progressive player is good too, but at this point in time there are many cos. that have updated their DVD offerings and it depends on how important DVD-A and progressive scan are to you.
