Hello to All and this is a great information site for home theater. My question is, I am going too buy a new receiver. I have been going through the ususal question seperates or 1 combined unit. I have always been a Rotel fan, good clean audio at a reasonable price. My question is has anyone done a comparison of the 1065 and 1066. I would love pro's and con's of either. My speakers are Spendor s3/5's all around and a spendor center. along with a velodyne cht10 sub. My current Receiver is a marantz sr7000. I will also be upgrading my CD and DVD player but I will leave that to another thread. Thanks in advance. Also any other equipment suggestions would be good as well.

Gregg I own the 1066 and have the 1055 receiver in my HT for a review as well but I've yet to have the time to really try the 1055 much. What I do know though is that the 1055 and 1066 are very closely related software wise so I expect that I'll not find that much difference between the two when used as a pre amp. I don't know much about the 1065 though but all indications are its a winner.

    Andrew,
what's the cost on a 1055 receiver? My dealer has none of these receivers in stock; in fact he doesen't even have pricing for this unit yet. [IMG]

    Hello,

I currently own the RSP-1066, but my initial purchase was going to be the 1065. It is almost identical to the 1066, except the has internal amplification, and a couple other dsp fields. That is it. If you are going to separates, the definitely go with the 1066. Personally I like the look of the 1065, as it is almost the size of the 1090 and 1095, so it would have fit better into my setup, but I was not willing to sacrifice the clarity of audio that comes with a pre/pro vs the looks of the 1065.

The RSX-1055 lists for $1299 and the RSX-1065 lists for $1999. Some have reported getting 5 to 10% discounts.

I unfortunately had to pay list for my RSX-1055.
