    Anyone else heard this?

I forget where I read it (EW?), but in the article, they were talking about scheduleing of Rome and other HBO shows getting in the way of another show, that was the main topic of the article (Deadwood?)..

Sorry the details are so hazy.. But I DID read them..

Man, I loved everything about that series, and I'm so glad there is to be a 2nd season..

    How about you guys?

ROME's 2nd and final season will air in January of 2007. It was pushed up from March due to delays in the SOPRANOS production.

I also loved the series and can't wait for its return and the season 1 DVDs in just over a week.

Season 2 picks up 15 mins after the events of season 1. Caesar's body is burned by a mob of mourners. Sadly, Max Pirkis is not coming back as Octavian and the role has been recast.

Here is a good site that will give updated and news and spoilers (if you want them).

Another show HBO is ending way before it was supposed to.

This season will be its last.

What's the verdict on this show? I remember mostly mixed reactions when it begun.

It's like anything else in life. Some people like it some don't.

Certainly they did take some liberties with history but I found that show to be entertaining and will be tuning in for the second season.

My verdict on this show was that it started kind of good, then became absolutely fucking brilliant by about half way through the season and never let up. And the ending was incredible.

Liberties were discussed in depth in the tv airing thread here at the HTF (thanks again!). I'd suggest reading there if you want details. I loved the show, and loved the commentary here at the HTF about how it didn't match history.

My guess is the kid playing Octavian will be in the first episode but I think they might jump ahead a few years (or a decade or more). That's my guess, anyway. I liked the kid playing Octavian a lot so I hope he gets in for a bit.

He was my third favourite character so I hope he is around for at least an episode. It will be jarring especially if the show picks up 15 minutes after episode 12 to see him being played by someone new.

As for my verdict on the show... I thought it was ok. It's not in the Sopranos or Deadwood's league but then again what the hell is? One thing that bugged me is that Ceasar wasn't all the memorable. A character out of history of that caliber should have been able to rival Tony Soprano or Al Swearengen but he never became that interesting. I don't blame Ciarán Hinds. I do feel the role was not written all that strongly. Personally I thought that Cleopatra was far more interesting than he was. Octavian was showing a whole ton of promise however.

    ??

    I couldn't disagree more..

He was plenty interesting.. Often engrossing..

If anyone was left by the lee, in terms of writing, or acting, it was the girl who played Cleopatra..

The show was still a fav of mine even though it did not follow history. First of all, SEASON ONE SPOILER

Titus Pullo did not bring down the Republic because of drunken bar fight....

    END SPOILER

I have been able to seperate the show from history and enjoy unlike others that I have talked to...

HBO continues their roll. it's been an unbelievable and unprecedented decade for HBO. starting with From Earth to the Earth, through Band of Brothers, Sopranos, Six Feet Under, The Wire and now Rome, Entourage, Deadwood, they've been consistently giving us quality shows. yeah there's been hiccups here and there, but that is to be expected. it's just been an unbelievable run. networks can't really catchup with them the way they're going.

Rome's great =). i'm hoping for one more of those gladiator scenes =).
